maria's school is selling tickets to a choral performance. on the first day of ticket sales the school sold 4 adult tickets and 1 child ticket for a total of $47. the school took in $58 on the second day by selling 5 adult tickets and 1 child ticket. what is the price each of one adult ticket and one child ticket?

If you do simple division for one adult ticket, such as what I did, 4/47, it gave me 11.75, so I went with eleven, then I multiplied until I couldn't then counted up the extras and got 3 dollars for a child ticket, to make sure yo;u do it with the next number and you have your answer; $11 adult, $3 kid... hope this helps!

 5x + y = 58
