9.  15^2-12^2=81 the square root of 81 is 9

The equation a^2 + b^2 = c^2 can be used to find the length of the sides of any right triangle.
C= the side across from the right angle.
Knowing this, we can fill in the other side we know and then solve for the side that we don’t know.
(12)^2 + b^2 = (15)^2
144 + b^2 = 225
b^2 = 81
Now we take the square root of each side to get b alone
b = 9
9 feet is your answer.
