Maya Lin is an American Designer and Architect. She became famous for winning a public design competition for the Vietnan Veterans Memorial in 1981. She achieved this by beating 1421 other competitors who also submitted their work to the contest.
The election of her work was controversial due to the fact that she was of Asian ethnicity and feelings towards people from this region were not very friendly after the recent Vietnam War.
