where,

C1 is the initial concentration of the solution = 7%

V1 is the initial volume = 400mL

C2 is the final concentration = 4.5%

We clear Ve and replace the known data:

[tex]\begin{gathered} V_2=\frac{C_1V_1}{C_2} \\ V_2=\frac{7\%\times400mL}{4.5\%}=622mL \end{gathered}[/tex]

Answer: the new volume of the solution will be 622 mL
