How does William Blake depict the trees in his interpretation of the forest of suicides in the inferno?

The trees in the forest are encased with souls who committed suicide as their punishment.  They are like the living-dead as the harpies feast on the branches of the trees.  This is their punishment for taking their lives to express their frustrations.
