Food provides molecules that serve as fuel and building material for all organisms. Plants undergo photosynthesis and make their own food. Other organisms, like us and the horse seen above, are consumers and eat food. How do ALL organisms use food as fuel? Be sure to include the name of the process in your answer. Please help me.

All living organisms, including plants and animals get fuel by the process of respiration. It involves chemical breakdown of complex food molecules (such as sugars)  in the presence of oxygen and release energy in the form of ATP molecule, along with water and carbon dioxide.  

The ATP formed during respiration releases energy during its hydrolysis and acts as energy source for all cellular processes.
